Clubs In Your Area

I hope that this page will grow often. If you do not see a club in your area listed here, please come back soon and look again. If you are lucky enough to have an active club in your area, please send us the information so that we can list it here as a resource for you to get the word out and grown your club.

If there is not a club in your area, please scroll down, we have a few ideas for you.

If you have a club to list we will need: The Area You Are In - that includes the State, Zip Code, and if you meet at a certain place each month. A Contact - that is a person's name and their email address. I will not list phone numbers on this site for many reasons.

NO RAT CLUBS IN MY AREA, WHAT DO I DO?

I bet if there are other rat owners they would be interested in learning more about Rat Agility. You might want to start a group. I did this in WI by just setting a date at a park and inviting friends that had rabbits and ratties to join me there for the fun. I took the equipment I had and we had a ball. We met twice a month and ate out, dutch treat, after the event. Some evenings we had as many as 14 people that participated.

Make or buy some equipment and find a folding table you can use to set up on. Set a date, time and place. Invite anyone you know that might be interested in coming with or without their pets. Put up fliers at pet stores, feed mills and maybe even take out an ad in a local paper. Be sure to make a list of what you want to take to the event and double check it. Ideas, equipment, ratties, holding pens, something to wipe the equipment down with if soiled, rat snacks, information written out for folks about the next event.....

For the first few times at these training events you will need to "host" them. Welcome each person as they come, take notice of their animals, introduce people as they come, set up the table before others get there, be a host.

IF YOU JUST WANT TO MEET UP WITH OTHER RATTIE OWNERS

If you are not ready to set up and Rat or Small Pet Agility Group but would like to meet with other Rat or Small Pet owners you might set up a date, usually giving yourself 3 weeks to a month, and make up fliers with

EXAMPLE:

WHAT: Fancy Pet Rat Owners Luncheon

WHERE: Burger King in the back room. We will meet in the back room of the Burger King at XXXX Main Street, City Name LUNCH IS DUTCH TREAT (everyone buys their own food and drink)

WHEN: September 17th 2011 at 11:30 am

WHY: Pet Rat people meeting one another to talk about their Pet Ratties. A fun time to share stories, ideas, and possibly later in time, training dates.

HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE. THIS SHOULD BE A GOOD TIME, BRING A FRIEND.

(note: the more information you have on the Invitations the better)

Make fliers and put them up at Pet Stores, Laundromats, Feed Mills, Apartment Note Boards, and any other note board you can think of. Then go Electronic. Write this example out, with your own information of course, and send it to the Rat Yahoo Lists you are on, any Forums you are on, your Facebook page, and don't forget places like Craig's List.
